Fawn Mckay

Fawn McKay was born on 15 September 1915 in Ogden, Utah. Fawn MCKAY, who was educated in the Mormon First Family of the Church employed her creative talents and ability to research skills to compose the intriguing biographical psycho-historical study of Joseph Smith. Published in 1945 under the title No Man is a Master of My History, she used both. The title derives from the funeral sermon of Joseph Smith, who was the leader of the Church of Latter-Day Saints. His audience was shocked by his saying: "You don't even know my name. I haven't even met the inside of my mind." My history is not known to anyone. It's impossible for me to divulge it. Fawn was a 29-year-old Fawn. Since that time more than three writers took on the task. Many have deified and even abused his character, whereas others have attempted to diagnose the root of the problem. It isn't that there aren't enough documents instead, they're completely contradictions. The task of assembling these documents--of sifting first-hand account from third-hand and fabricated plagiarism, of putting Mormon and non-Mormon accounts into an assemblage that is credible historiography. This is a fascinating learning experience. FawnBrodie embraced the challenge of a professional. Her writing and research brought her fame around the world: Thaddeus Stephens. The Devil drives (1959). The Story of Sir Richard Burton (1967) Thomas Jefferson. A Personal Historiography (1974) and later posthumously Richard Nixon.
